"Bengali: Let others give a feel of us"

This a a conversation reagarding the topic mentioned:
Biswajit:Hi buddies.. This message is the outcome or outburst of the perception or predending perception that other communities have about bengalies.
We all know that the contribution of Bengalies towards Indian culture ( rather Global), Indian economy, Indian freedom fighting , Indian entertain ment industry is tremndous. But still we are seen like an inferior community.
This I believe is a fault of ourselves only. We never tried to make others feel what the bengali is all about. we are too much confined in ourselves only. we are generally bit posessive, bit submissive in our attitue but never aggresive. We always feel comfortable in hiding our Identity in front of others. Take the case of Bollywood industry. It is full of bengali celebreties but How many know that they are bengali.
Time has come to come out of our BHADROLOK kind of image and let the world know that we bengalies are the best...

Anonymous:If you have convince people you are the best, then you better reconsider whether you are in fact the best.

Suman: wht to write about topic.sometimes makes me feel i should go out and shout at the top of my voice to make people believe in us-tht we are the best.but most of the times this feeling has to be dumped in despondency.why?because how long should we hold on to our past.how long will it be the case "wht india thinks today bengal thinks tomorrow"?i have been to many places but never ever have i noticed youngsters wasting time at the addas with the so called dadas of the para even during the peak hours of the day.i can bring in front of u guys a host of other problems-strikes, so called "legal expressions of democracy",or is it an ardent expression of social hypocrisy-punctuality has been thrown to the air, watch govt employees u will obviously get the hang of it-and biswajit f.y.i entertainment is for people who work not for guys spending time in solving social problems orally or spending useful time on a pack of cards or on sides of a carrom board or in teastalls-so it wud be better if you u shut ur lecture about bollywood, they r doing their job lets do ours, entertainment wasnt a industry in india till the last quarter of the 20th century.r we doing our job conscientiously-the late 19th and early 20th century had given bengal many a figure to stand out, give me one barring amartya sen in the second half of the 20th century, have u got my point,i think we dont have to shout to make others hear, fragrance of a flower spreads on its own,and "bhadralok" wht the hell r u talking about?still whtever image is left will reduce to shreds if we shed the bhadrolok image-we will be same as some states which we cud easily disown.i understand u r a proud bengali but so r we.but first lets remove the blindfold, let knowledge wash our eyes,we have work to do,a huge deal,if europe cud come out of the dark ages then we certainly can have our rennaissance.tht will be all.have a nice time.

Amarnath (Me): The topic being, "Bengali: Let others give a feel of us", hope, if not all, 90% of the people belonging to Bengal or having any close relationship with Bengal are proud to be Bengalies and that they are the best. But tell me, is it really possible to convince people that we are the best just by shouting at the top of our voice that we are the best. They would just care a damn. So, we have to convince people, our immediate environment by what we do, achieve or may be acquire with time. That's not what you can expect from the introvert kind of attitude what we often see amongst us. I agree to what Suman said regarding the fact that entertainment is for people who work and that you would never see people spending time in solving social problems orally or spending useful time on a pack of cards or on sides of a carrom board or in tea-stalls. But it's a fact that Bengali bollywood actors who have gained such name and fame DON'T want to show any kind of Bengali influence prevalent in them. can give you the example of Rimi Sen who changed her screen name to Rimmi, Kajol having truncated her Bengali title in-spite of the fact that she is a Bengali. There could be two major reasons for all these. Firstly, the hatred of people towards Bengalis, or that they are not proud to be Bengalis. They definite constitute a portion of the remaining 10% of the Bengalis. So, along with the "bhodrolok" kind of an attitude, we should develop the confidence in us that we are the best and that we can do the best for the world and then implement it systematically so that we come out to be the best in India first and then in the world. To add: This is also the reason for us being separately categorized as "Bengalis: avoidables" among the north Indians!!! What do my friends say????? COMMENTS AWAITED

Life After College.....

Ok. Let me start. We had our last engineering exam on 11th June. Life has been quite boring since then. I was quite uncertain when the Wipro training program, which was being held in our college, is about to resume!! But after gathering full information about the schedule of the training which would commence on 1st July, I quickly got the train ticket back to my home-town, Siliguri in West Bengal. Spending almost 3 days in train I reached Siliguri and planned to meet my old school friends but to my utter bad luck most of them were out of town. Here starts my boring life, spending the whole day over the internet, chatting and search such sites over Google, which could better have been avoided if I had something positive to do. Slowly, the day to go back to Bangalore came and I left for Bangalore with a heavy mind since the only thing that would invite me to Bangalore was the training for 8 hours all 6 days of the week.....
Once I reached Bangalore, the only other thing that haunted me other than the training, was the announcement of our Final (8th) Semester Results. They were out on the 1st day I reached Bangalore and I was glad to know that i had passed in the sole theory paper we had in this semester since the question paper was a real bouncer!!! We hadn't yet received our joining details till then, but a mail from Wipro Team saying that they had acknowledged the publication of the final semester VTU results and that our joining details would be notified by the next weekend!!! This gave us a sigh of relief and this resulted us in spending our time other than training in front of the pc's checking our individual e-mails with the hope of receving the much wanted e-mail from Wipro. We were so tensed throughout the period that we entertained ourselves by watching movies every friday in the theatres and on other days in our pc's.Finally our training came to an end on 22nd July and a representative from Wipro came to address us in our college regarding our training and other joining details overall. Within a few days came our joining dates but not the training or posting places. My joining date being on 26th Aug, I came back home since I was supposed to check out of the engineering hostel where I had extended my stay by about a month and a half, and I didn't have any other place to stay or keep my luggages. I left Bangalore for Siliguri on 28th July after packing all my luggages and keeping them in one of my junior's room in the hostel....
I reached home on 1st Aug and to my surprise I got the confirmation mail from Wipro stating my date of reporting and joining. Luckily I got it at my 1st prference place that's Bangalore. I was quite happy and so were my parents. Since then, it has been a boring endeavour at home altogether. Although its time to study the subjects we had in our training since we need to score at least 80% in the test that wiil be conducted immediately after we join Wipro.... So, the only way I have chosen to curb this boredom is to chat, orkut, and finally creating the webpage as you can see etc... against which my mom keeps on bugging me!!.... Now, I am waiting to get the user id & the password from Wipro which will inform me which office of Wipro in Bangalore I need to report....
Hope I have given u guys quite an overview of what I am doing all these days.... Bye friends till I write next time .......
